Suspicious Minds: Squeaky Clean Series, Book 2

1. In Suspicious Minds, Gabby deals with the issue of loneliness. Most of us have felt lonely at some point or another. On what occasions have you felt lonely? Why? How have you overcome it?

2. Is loneliness a choice, or is it something that’s brought on by out-of-control circumstances? Explain.

3. Gabby explored some reasons why people end up alone. How does a technologically advanced society make it easy to become isolated? Do you fall into any of these traps? How do you combat isolation?

4. Do you know anyone who appears isolated? How could you reach out to them with friendship? What first step could you take?

5. Gabby doesn’t easily believe that God is real or accept an untested faith. She wants to be absolutely certain before claiming to be a believer. Why is it important to be certain of our beliefs? Does having faith mean never having doubts?

6. Read Hebrews 11:1. How do you define faith? How does faith differ from believing in God?

7. In Suspicious Minds, Gabby feels frustrated that Mr. Hermit’s son wants nothing to do with his father, yet she’s in a similar situation with her own dad. Often, it’s easier to see the wrongs in other people than in ourselves. In what areas do you struggle to hold yourself accountable? Is there an area of your life that you need to examine more closely?
