Win a Book Club T-Shirt from Unshelved

Declare your book club pride! We celebrated National Reading Group Month with a special contest. We gave away five witty Book Club T-Shirts from Unshelved designed for the book club enthusiast. In pink print on black cotton, the front of the t-shirt says “Book Club” while the back lists “The Rules of Book Club,” which is a humorous take on Fight Club, Chuck Palahniuk’s novel that was later adapted into a major motion picture.
See our winners below.
Winners of the Unshelved T-Shirt Contest
We'd like to thank all of our readers who participated. Here are our five winners and their favorite book club rules:
- Christine from Key West, FL: "In case of power outage, Book Club will meet in the Palm Garden. Bring flashlights."
- Kristen from Bentonville, AR: "If you don't finish the book, you have to be prepared to hear spoilers. We will not narrow the discussion for you!"
- LeAnn from Waite Park, MN: "If you haven't read the book, CliffsNotes will not suffice."
- Pat from Salem, VA: "Even if you don't particularly like the chosen book, think about how much richer you are for having read it."
- Sara Elizabeth from Grove City, OH: "To borrow a book is a sign of interest; to lend a sign of trust. I'm trusting you to return my book, and you are trusting me not to kill you when you lose it. DON'T LOSE IT."
Below is a sampling from the hundreds of additional entries we received:
- April from Orlando, FL: "'Where are the brownies?' is not a discussion topic."
- Danielle from Aliso Viejo, CA: "Book club discussions are always more interesting when accompanied by a glass (or bottle) of wine."
- Dorothy from West Jordan, UT: "Bring food that relates to the book being discussed (this is an actual rule for our club)."
- Dorothy from Lock Haven, PA: "Don't monopolize the discussion. Let everyone give their opinion."
- Heather from Villa Park, IL: "Food and drink must be involved."
- Janet from Spruce Grove: "You don't have to finish the book if you don't like it."
- Jean from Madison, WI: "Good books, good food, good friends."
- Lynne from Sanger, TX: "Come to Book Club ESPECIALLY if you didn't like the book."
- Morgan from Millbrook, AL: "After you read a book, give them away as gifts to libraries, schools, etc. Bookstore giftcards are good, too."
- Paula from Hudson, OH: "There are no book club rules... free form and unstructured leads to open and interesting discussions."
