Sarah Manguso is the author of two books of poetry, Siste Viator (which won the Rome Prize awarded by the American Academy of Arts and Letters) and The Captain Lands in Paradise, as well as the short story collection Hard to Admit and Harder to Escape. Winner of a Pushcart Prize, she has also been a fellow at the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, and Bread Loaf, and her work has appeared in numerous publications, including The Paris Review, Ploughshares, and the Best American Poetry series. Educated at Harvard and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, she has taught literature and writing at the University of Iowa, the Pratt Institute, and the New School. She lives in Rome.
